Problem mit startx --> Fatal server error

Hallo zusammen,

wenn ich bei meinem Debian startx eingebe, kommt folgende Fehlermeldung:

Fatal server error
no screens found
XIO: fatal IO error 104.......

Ich habe in einem anderen Thread gelesen, dass ich in die xorg.conf schauen soll. Diese ist allerdings leer. Hab ich irgendetwas vergessen zu installieren?
Ich denke, dass der falsche Grafiktreiber oder Monitortreiber ausgewählt wurde.
Gibt es nicht einen Befehl, mit dem man die Tastatur, Maus, Grafikkarte etc. einstellen kann???

Jetzt startet X zwar, aber bleibt mit grauem Hintergrundbild und Mausunterstützung stehen. Woran kann das liegen?!?

Wenn ich die Mühle neustarte, kommt zwar das Anmeldefenster, aber anschließend ist Schluß. Ach ja und eine Meldung, dass irgendein Gerät nicht richtig installiert sei????

Na wie gesagt, ich bin jetzt einen Schritt weiter. Allerdings seh ich nur den grauen Hintergrund und meinen Mauszeiger.
Leider kenn ich mich mit debian noch nicht sonderlich gut aus und weiss nicht, in welchen logs ich nachsehen muss. Sorry!
Die Fehlermeldung nach bzw. während der Anmeldung lautet:

Konfiguration ist nicht fehlerfrei
Die Konfigurationsdatei enthält eine ungültige Befehlszeile für den Anmeldedialog,daher wurde der Vorgabebefehl ausgeführt.
Bitte korrigieren Sie Ihre Konfiguration.

Also, für meine Begriffe sieht die gut aus. Ich hab vergessen zu schreiben

grep EE /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Könnte auch noch interessant sein. Obwohl ich eher vermute, dass es sich um eine Fehlkonfiguration des Loginmanagers handelt, als des X-Servers.
