GeForce 8400 GS Problem

    Hallo zusammen,

    wie ich mir schon fast gedacht habe muss ich gleich eure hilfe in anspruch nehmen. Folgendes Problem hat sich gebildet, wo ich numehr ratlos bin: Ich benutze Debian sid lenny und habe versucht den Treiber fuer mein Grafikkarte zu installieren, hab ich auch geschafft allerdings funktioniert er nicht.

    Ich bin so vorgegangen:

    apt-get install nvidia-settings
    m-a update
    m-a prepare
    m-a get nvidia
    m-a build nvidia
    m-a install nvidia
    apt-get nvidia-glx nvidia-xconfig
    
    Danch habe ich den Treiber -169.12- installiert

    nu bin ich allerdings nicht weiter als wie vor 2 tagen, habe mich schon durch einige HowTo_s gegoogelt, allerdings ohne nennenswerten erfolg.

    Vielleicht kann mir hier jemand weiterhelfen.

    hi mike,

    genau da liegt das Problem, sobald ich daraus "nvidia" mache starte er nicht mehr, der monitor bleibt schwarz, deswegen hatte ich wieder ge'ndert "nv"

    Ich verstehe deine Vorgehensweise bei der Installation nicht so recht
    der letzte Befehl funktioniert nicht(oder hast du bloß "install" vergessen als du den Thread geschrieben hast), und was heist "Danch habe ich den Treiber -169.12- installiert"?

    Ich würde versuchen all das wieder rückgängig zu machen und einfach "nvidia-glx" aus den Repos zu installieren...

    der 25er kernel aus sid funktioniert jedenfalls noch nicht mit den nvidia treibern.

    1. Warum installierst Du erst den Treiber aus den Repos und klatschst dann den von der Nvidia-Seite drüber? Das geht meistens in die Hose

    2. Wenn 25er + 169.12 nicht funktioniert, hat man mehrere Möglichkeiten:
    a) rumpatchen und hoffen
    b) den 24er aus Lenny nehmen
    c) den 173.08 Beta-Treiber von der Nvidia-Seite nehmen

    ... und vorher natürlich "aufräumen"!

    Ich hab keine ahnung, ehrlich gesagt hab ich rumprobiert und hat nix gebracht. "Das geht meistens in die hose", hehe. Jupp. Ich werd mal den 173.03 Beta-Treiber versuchen. Danke für den tip.

    Also soweit ich weiß, brauchst du von dem ganzen Zeug eigentlich gar nichts außer den Kernel sources.

    Das sollte dir alle nötigen sources eigentlich installieren ;)
    Danach noch den nvidia Treiber von der nvidia Seite, der sollte dann auch das Kernelmnodul automatisch bauen.

    Kleiner Tipp noch:

    m-a get nvidia
    m-a build nvidia
    m-a install nvidia
    ist das gleiche wie
    Code:
    m-a a-i nvidia
    Den Treiber kompilieren, danach den aus dem Repo installieren und danach den von nvidia kann ja nicht gut gehen...
    Mach am besten erst mal alles wieder runter...

    ich mache das immer anders,

    apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r)
    apt-get install linux-source-2.6.24
    cd /usr/src
    tar -jxvf linux-source-2.6.24.tar.bz2
    ln -s linux-source-2.6.24 linux
    /etc/init.d/gdm stop
    sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-173.08-pkg2.run

    so bin ich bisher eigentlich immer Gut mit Gefahren, bei NVIDIA Karten und da ich Zufälligerweise im Besitz in einem Rechner von der selben bin kann ich auch sagen das es so jedenfalls Wunderbar Funktioniert!
