xserver stürzt ab + gnome

hi,
ich bin heute von kde auf gnome umgestiegen, und nun stürzt in unregelmäßigen abständen ständig mein xserver ab, und ich lande wieder am anmeldebildschirm (gdm)!

oder liege ich mit meiner vermutung falsch, und es ist garnicht der xserver, hab mal testweise beryl installiert, was aber auch keine verbesserung brachte.

was könnte ich sonst noch machen?

Wird irgendwas mit gnome sein! Weil wenn du direkt wieder in gdm landest laeuft ja der Xserver weiter. Sonst wuerde es ja auch keinen gdm mehr geben.
Das Problem trat mit KDE also nicht auf? Habe ich das richtig verstanden?
Was du noch machen kannst ist mal direkt auf der arch linux mailingliste nach fragen da tummeln sich auch die Developer und die Mentainer der ports. Vielleicht kann dir da jemand weiter helfen.

Evtl. auch mal einen Blick in die $HOME/.xsession-errors werfen (falls vorhanden).

Ist der Fehler reproduzierbar?
Zeitlich?
Welche Programme laufen zum Zeitpunkt des Absturzes?
Welche Programme starten automatisch?

Irgendwelches Bery/Compiz-Zeug am laufen?

Passiert das auch unter einen anderen (=> neu angelegten) User?

Mal einen MEMTest gemacht?

Du weißt, dass der XServer bei einem Absturz i.d.R. neu gestartet wird?
Stichwort: Daemon-Mode (via DAEMONS in /etc/rc.conf) oder respawn (via /etc/inittab)
Und zwar wird der X-Server vom Displaymanager (kdm, gdm, slim, etc.) gestartet ... nicht vorher.

Also bei mir wird er nicht neu gestartet aber hmmm. Mag vielleicht auch an meinen Einstellungen liegen .... Ich weis ja nicht was du fuer nen PC hast aber wenn ich gdm etc laufen habe und mir X abschmiert ist das ding nicht sofort wieder da sondern es wird alles schwarz und dauert ne ganze weile bis es wieder da ist, und ich habe mir die Freiheit genommen fskings "sofort" AUCH als sofort zu verstehen und nicht nach 20 - 40 sekunden.
Und wenn ein größeres X Problem vorliegen sollte müsste man das in seiner Xorg.0.log sehen die du dir sicher sehr gut angesehen hast stimmts?

Noch was zu gdm! gdm zieht beim starten X mit hoch sprich es läuft parallel und nicht nacheinandern. Nach deiner Aussage hätte gdm ja einen eigenen X server! Aber wenn du Quellen für deine Aussage hast zeig sie mir bitte ich lasse mich hier gerne auch beleren da ich gdm und co nicht verwende!

noch jemand ne idee. was das komische ist, ich kann auch garkeine programme ausführen und er stürtzt ab!

dann ist kurz alles schwarz ich sehe das nvidia logo und lande wieder bei gdm!

hmmmm klingt sehr merkwürdig! Also wenn alles schwarz wird das nvidia zeichen kommt und dann wieder gdm. Schmiert dir tatsächlich der ganze Xserver ab.
Aber auch .xession-errors fördert nichts zu tage was das Problem begründen könnte ....

das ist das einzige was etwas verursachen könnte aber da ich kein Gnome user bin, bin ich mit meinem latein leider am ende ....

dabei handelt es sich um screenlets, die abstürze traten aber auch schon auf, als ich die screenlets noch nicht installiert hatte!

die abstürze sind jetzt nicht mehr so häufig, heute mogrn (seit 9:15 Uhr hatte ich nur einen absturz!



EDIT: ich ahb jetzt mal nen testuser angelegt, mit dem funktioniert alles wunderbar, gibt es eine moeglichkeit, jetyt herauyufinden, welche einstellung, bzw welches programm, das mit meinem useraccount zusammenhaengt und die abstuerze verursacht?
