WLan: Prism54 - USB

hi
ich habe vor mich vor längerer zeit schonmal ein bisschen mit linux beschäftigt, da ich mir wohl bald ein laptop anschaffen werde, will ich auf meinem alten pc ubuntu installieren (bzw hab ich)
da wir in unserem haus keine kabelkanäle haben muss ich über Wlan ins inet gehen,
ich habe einen "Siemens Gigaset 54 USB Adapter"
ich hab schon ewig bei google und hier im Forum gesucht...

im netzwerk manager wird eine wlankarte angezeigt, der kann aber keine verbindung aufbauen...

noch ein paar sachen:

1. eth2 wird im gnome-netzwerk manager als funkverbindung angezeigt
2. die MAC die ifconfig eth2 ausgibt ist falsch....
3. ich hab den neuesten kernel aus dem ubuntu archiven: 2.6.15-26
4. manuell einstellen hab ich versucht.. irgendwann findet er sogar die richtige MAC des ap.. aber verbinden geht nicht..
5. verschiedene USB ports hab ich getestet
6. von der ubuntu live cd starten führt zum gleichem problem....
sagt mir wenn noch was wichtiges fehlt.

hab jetz irgendwo gelesen das ich eine firmware brauche.....
hab mir auf http://www.prism54.org/newdrivers.html die version 2.5.8.0 runtergeladen... hab jetz ne datei "2.5.8.0.arm" .... die hab ich in den ordner /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/isl3887usb_bare kopiert (stand irgendwo so)


ich hab keine Verschlüsselung aktiviert.

neuerdings hab ich auch irgendwie geschafft die LED vom Wlan adapter ans laufen zu bekommen, leuchtet jetz dauerthaft, fragt mich nicht wie.. vorher war die die ganze zeit aus. auf http://jbnote.free.fr/ stand das die nicht unterstützt wird.
