USB-Port fällt im Betrieb aus

Hallo,
ich habe gerade ubuntu istalliert und es läuft auch fast alles. Ein kleines Problem muss es aber wohl doch immer geben: Wenn ich das System hochgefahren habe funktioniert meine Usb-Maus, mein USB-Drucker wird erkannt etc. Sobald ich aber ein bisschen damit arbeite oder z.B. die Paketverwaltung starte erkennt er keinerlei angeschlossene USB-Geräte mehr...
Woran kann das liegen bzw. was kann ich dagegen tun?!

Welche Infos braucht ihr noch von mir?

Ich habe Ubuntu 6.10 mit Gnome auf einem LG-Laptop laufen.

P.S. Das Touchpad funktioniert glücklicherweise...

EDIT: Oh... sollte der Beitrag vielleicht doch eher unter Hardware??!

Schau mal in die /var/log/messages. Dort wird normalerweise geloggt, wenn irgendwas mit der Hardware nicht richtig läuft, so dass man dort genauere Infos finden kann.
 
hmm... ich kann mit dem Portokoll leider nicht allzuviel anfangen...

In dieser messages findet sich nichts von einem Ausfall des USB-Port.
Mach mal 'tail -f /var/log/messages' in einem Terminal und benutze dann den Rechner bis der USB-Port ausfällt. Die dann in dem Terminal auftauchenden Meldungen sind die relevanten.

soweit ich das beobachtet habe, sind aber keine neuen Meldungen hinzugekommen, als der USB ausgefallen ist...

Ich habe gerade nohmal mit "lsusb" rumgespielt und folgendes beobachtet:
wenn ich den Rechner gestartet habe und der USB noch funktioniert, also ca. die ersten 5 mintuten, dann werden auch alle angeschlossenen Geräte ordnungsgemäß angezeigt. Wenn ich, nachdem der USB ausgefallen ist "lsusb" ausführe, dann hat sich in der Liste nichts verändert. Ziehe ich nun den Stecker eines USB-Gerätes so verschwindet es auch aus der Liste und erscheint auch nicht wieder, wenn es wieder eingesteckt wird...
