Umlaute und Alt_Gr auf einem Notebook

Wie bekomme ich deutsche Umlaute und die Alt_R (alt_gr) taste unter xwindows auf einem Notebook zum laufen die in init 3 funktioniert...????
Redhat 9- kernel 2.4.8-20
 
ändere mal dein Charset auf de-latin1-nodeadkeys, ich weiß leider nicht wo man das bei redhat macht.
 
also bei mir musste ich das in xf86cfg einstellen

nicht ganz... da mit ändern der settings nix bewirkt wird

Jetzt kommts
Wenn ich in INIT 3 starte sprich kein xwindows kde blahfassel sprich kein xserver dann funktioniert die AltGr Taste (oder Alt_R) ich kann @, € und so weiter erzeugen die Umlaute gehen natürlich auch.
In xwindows keine Chance. Mit dem Befehl "xev" kann ich mir anzeigen lassen das er die Taste erkennt. Toll!
- habe mal mittels # xmodmap -pm > /tmp/test_pm
und
# xmodmap -pk > /tmp/test_pk die Ausgabe in eine Datei schreiben lassen und diese angeschaut. Schön.

Kurzum das gleiche mal mit SUSE versucht da geht es natürlich... :-(
da deutsche distri... An einem "normalen PC" kein Notebook geht es auch mit Redhat einwandfrei. So also was ist der Unterschied zwischen Suse und Redhat was die XFree86Config und die xmodmap angeht siehe da es gibt einen.
FRAGE kann ich die xmodmap einfach kopieren.???
 
okay und wo soll ich das bitte ein geben außerhalb von xwindows? und ist das die richtige schreibweise?
 
Nur nochmals als Hint - was in der XF86Config von Suse steht Section "Input Device" ist identisch mit dem was in der XF86Config bei Redhat steht. da war ich schon... Kann also nur was mit xmodmap zu tun haben da via loadkeys was bevor xwindows denke ich stattfindet ja funktioniert.
 
also du öffnest ein terminal unter X11 und gibst dort xf86cfg ein eventuell musst du den gesammten phad eingeben den findest du mit
locate xf86cfg
raus
du musst dafür root sein sonnst kannst du die einstellungen nicht speichern
 
okay gehen wir mal davon aus ich habe sie gefunden "XF86Cfg" da eine "xf86cfg" existiert nicht. Was soll ich dann damit machen? bzw. wie soll ich diese aufrufen? Ich kann Sie öffen mit einem Editor sieht mir aber nach einem Konfig Script aus und nicht nach einem Konfig File wie die "XF86Config". Ich suche die Datei in der die Keys mit Ihren (0xff0) usw. Werten abgelegt ist.
 
also es gibt ein PROGRAMM das heißt "xf86cfg"(ja das ist kleingeschrieben und auch nur so richtig) und wenn du dieses Programm als root ausfürst kannst du in einem "GUI"

bash-2.05b# /usr/bin/X11/xf86cfg

da stellst du dann unter tastatur die richtige tasten anzahl, das richtige tastaturlayout und die zusatzoptionen richtig ein. die ist durch die auswahl möglichkeiten viel einfacher als die config datei zu editieren

Glaub nicht das jemand hier wirklich verstanden hat was ich wollte.
Es hat mich ja auch keiner nach Details oder sonstigen gefragt sondern immer nur auf doof geantwortet.
Wenn Ihr wisst was die Option "Xkbdisabled" bedeutet dann hätte Ihr mir helfen können.
Aber egal für jeden der mal so ein Problem hat das auf einem Notebook mit deutschem Keyboard Layout die ALTGr Taste im xwindows (init 5) keine Funktion hat aber in Init 3 dann muß lediglich bei dem Standardmäßigem XF86Config File die bei einer Redhat9 Installation angelegt wird die Zeile -> Option "XkbDisable" mit "#" auskommentiert werden und trotz richtigem Charset !!! die Option "XkbModel" "pc105" stehen und bei "XkbLayout" von "us" auf "de".
Da standardmäßig die Datei falsch geschrieben wird trotz richtiger Installation. Das "XkbDisable" bewirkt !!grob!! gesagt das auf die xmodmap verzichtet wird und die bei Init 3 geladen Charset über "loadkeys" verwendet werden.

Thats it.

PS: Selbst Redhat hatte keine Lösung bis Dato auch kein SCO -
Arbeite selbst bei einer Big Company...

Ich habe die Möglichkeit direkt mit den Leuten von Redhat zu kommunizieren und die haben mir den Fehler bestätigt.
Das ich auf die Lösung letzt endlich selbst gestoßen bin davon waren Sie peinlich berührt.

Es ist so Simpel

Bei der Standardmäßigen Installation auf einem Handelsüblichen Notebook mit deutschen Keyboard Layout unter Verwendung von Redhat 9. Wird die XFree86Config fehlerhaft erstellt.

Standard trotz korrekter Auswahl bei der Installation auch nachträglich über "redhat-config-keyboard".
- XkbLayout "pc102"
- XkbLanguage "us"
- XkbDisable

- Es ist zu ändern :
"Input Section"
XkbLanguage "de"
XkbLayout "pc105"
und
- XkbDisable auskommentieren !!! Erst nach dem auskommentieren oder entfernen dieser Option hat man Zugriff auf die AltGr (Alt_R) Taste.

vergleicht man mit dem Befehl "xmodmap" die Ausgabe unter Suse und Redhat dann sieht man genau den Unterschied bei der Belegung von "mod5".

Redhat ist dran dies nachträglich über ein "Patch" zu ändern.

Achtet mal drauf ob Sie es richtig machen oder doch nur "XkbDisable" auskommentiert wurde.... :-)
