Ubuntu 11.04 X-Server Problem

Hallo.

Ich habe gestern mein Ubuntu 10.10, welches einwandfrei funktionierte auf 11.04 geupgradet - mit dem dafür vorgsehenen Upgrade-Tool. Aber als ich dann neugestartet habe blieb nach dem Booten der Bildschirm einfach schwarz. Leider kenne ich mich mit Ubuntu nur sehr schlecht aus und weiss jetzt nicht, was ich machen kann. Eines funktioniert jedenfalls: Der Recovery-Modus. Wenn ich den Boote und dann FailsafeX auswähle, lande ich bei meinem Destop.

Was kann der Fehler sein?

Hier meine Hardwarekonfiguration:
CPU: 2x AMD Opteron 2350
Ram: 16GB
Grafikkarte: Nvidia Quadro FX 570

Welche Informationen braucht ihr noch?

Edit: Könnte es was bringen erst mal auf 11.10 zu upgraden?

Die Option nomodeset bringt gar nichts. Das Ergebnis ist einfach das selbe.

Ich benutze momentan nicht den proprietären Nvidia treiber, weil der ja im failsafeX modus nicht verwendet wird. Aber installiert ist er (Ver. 290.10) und müsste auch eigendlich funktionieren, weil er mit Ubuntu 10.04 funktioniert hat.

Wenn es ein Kernelupdate gab, wirst du das Kernelmodul neubauen müssen/den Treiber neuinstallieren.

Hast du eine /etc/X11/Xorg.conf und wenn ja, was steht drin?
 
Wie gesagt, der Treiber ist installiert. Nachdem das Update gefahren wurde und es nicht funktionierte, wie es soll hab ich den Treiber installiert.

Ich würd die xorg.conf mal umbennen und ganz ohne starten.
 
Kein erfolg... Der verwirrende Punkt ist, dass, wenn ich beim Booten ESC drücke, um die Meldungen zu sehen nach einigen Meldungen einfach nichts mehr passiert. Dann kann ich aber Ctrl + Alt + F1 drücken, mich anmelden und mit /etc/gdm/failsafeXServer den XServer im Failsafenmodus starten. Einfach so gdm zu starten geht nicht.

Wenn man sich ie richtige Logfile ansieht bekommt man ne Menge mehr Informationen. Da der XServer im Failsafe modus läuft werden Fehler nicht in /var/log/Xorg.0.log geschriebem, sondern in /var/log/Xorg.failsafe.log und dort steht:

Edit2: Noch ein interessanter Fakt: Wenn man gdm einfach so als User startet bekommt man eine Fehlermeldung, die irgendwas in der Richtung von "bla bla no permission due to security policies in the config file [...] gdm bailing out". Aber wenn ich gdm mit dem Befehl "sudo gdm" starte funktioniert alles einwandfrei - sogar mit Hardwarebeschleunigung, OpenGl etc. Könnte es also sein, dass gdm irgendwie anders gestartet werden muss?
