Guten Abend Forum,

hat jemand Erfahrung mit der Einbindung der Intel_Wlan/Pro2200BG Chipsätze in Centrino Notebooks (Sony Vaio VGN-Reihe) in SuSe-Systeme?

In SuSe 10.0 wird die 'Karte' zwar in YaST2 im Modul 'Netzwerkkarten' angezeigt, auch die Konfiguration ist kein Problem jedoch bekomme ich eine Verbindung zum Host zustande (Fritz.Box! FON).

Auf der Intel-Site sind Treiber für Linux zu haben, bei der Einbindung scheiterte ich aber schon bei 'make' kläglich;
Nachdem das Modul in YaST aufgeführt ist, sollte eine neue Treiberinstallation eigentlich auch nicht nötig sein...?

ndiswrapper soll angeblich eine Lösung für ältere Notebooks sein - soweit ich das sehe sind aber alle Win-Treiber für Intel-Centrino in .exe gepackt.

Bin für Ratschläge dankbar!

zuerst solltest du mal in die kernelausgabe anschauen (STRG+ALT+F10, oder /var/log/messages).
Wenn da so was wir ipw2200 firmware error steht dann musst du noch die Firmeware installieren(YAST->Software inst...->ipw-firmware)

Ein anderes Problem könnte sein das es einen manuellen Einschaltknopf für Wlan an deinem Notebook gibt. Dann steht im Kernellog so was. "RFKILL ON. Wireless lan off. Please turn on..." oder so was. Dann sollte aber auch bei iwconfig bei der Karte radio off stehen. Wenn du kein interface hast liegt es eher an der Firmware.

Wenn da so was wir ipw2200 firmware error steht dann musst du noch die Firmeware installieren(YAST->Software inst...->ipw-firmware)

Ein anderes Problem könnte sein das es einen manuellen Einschaltknopf für Wlan an deinem Notebook gibt. Dann steht im Kernellog so was. "RFKILL ON. Wireless lan off. Please turn on..." oder so was. Dann sollte aber auch bei iwconfig bei der Karte radio off stehen. Wenn du kein interface hast liegt es eher an der Firmware.

Hi,

in bezug auf WiFi spuckt der Kernel folgendes aus:

'failed to send TX-POWER command'
 
Es heißt "lspci" und "lsmod" mit einem kleinen "L" vorne.
Und nicht einem großen "i".
 
Es funktioniert...

Ach ja, ... Linux!

Ich habe noch mal meine Installationseinstellungen revue passieren lassen und habe festgestellt, dass ich die ACPI Einstellungen völlig ausgelassen hatte.

Sodann, ich habe openSuSe 10.0 nochmals vollständig installiert und siehe da ES FUNKTIONIERT;
Das Notebook hat sofort den Host gefunden, weitere Einstellungen in YaST waren nicht nötig!

Also wie ich gesagt habe dein Hardware Schalter ist auf "Wlan aus".

Sorry, das stimmt so nicht ganz, der Schalter war permanent an; der Chipsatz macht aber manchmal auch unter Win probleme, zumindestens in fremden Netzwerken erhalte ich oft die Meldung, der Switch wäre aus, obwohl er an ist...

Löte den Schalter doch aus und setz' einen neuen oder ein Kabel ein.
