openSuse 11.4 und 12.1 als Gast in XEN

Hallo zusammen,

ich habe under XEN 4.1.2 (läuft auf openSuse 12.1 x64 mit Kernel 3.1.5)
die openSuse 11.4 und 12.1 x64 als Gast installiert.
Soweit mit der "out of the box" Installation läuft alles fast reibungslos, bis auf die Netzwerkkarte e1000.
Sobald ich aber auf dem openSuse Gast System einen neuen Kernel kompiliere (3.1.5) und dann
mit dem neuen Kernel booten möchte kommt die Fehlermeldung das die "root /" Partition nicht gefunden wird.

Weiß jemand Rat oder hat ein paar Tips ?
