Hallo Community,

seit zwei Tagen kann ich keine Internetverbindung mehr bei meinem HP Laptop aufbauen. Stecke ich das Netzwerkkabel ein, passiert rein gar nichts. Irgendwas habe ich irgendwo herumgespielt. Aber wo? (Kabelbruch ausgeschlossen)

Paradoxerweise funktioniert die WLAN-Verbindung einwandfrei!

Was genau kann ich tun um meine Kabelverbindung zu aktivieren?

Wahrscheinlich reicht ein "sudo dhclient eth0" wenn das Kabel eingesteckt ist. Was sagt denn "ifconfig -a"?

Abend,

am Netzwerkmanager von Gnome rumgespielt? Einfach mal ein Rechtsklick auf das Netzwerksymbol oben in der Startleiste* gemacht und schauen ob das Kalbenetzwerk aktiv ist oder nicht.

D.h. eth1 ist deine wlan Karte? Wenn du's nicht weisst, mit iwconfig testen. Wie gesagt, dhclient eth0 sollte es tun, wenn es keine Hardware Probleme oder Probleme mit dem DHCP Server des Routers gibt.

Mit anderen Worten, entweder das Kabel oder die Netzwerkkarte ist kaputt, oder es laeuft kein DHCP Server im Netzwerk. ;)

Edit:
Aber da das Interface vom OS vernuenftig angesprochen werden kann, und du sagst das Kabel ist ok, wuerd ich auf letzteres Tippen, Probleme am Router.

Probleme am Router können ebenfalls ausgeschlossen werden. Die Workstation bekommt sofort eine Verbindung via eth0. Somit befürchte ich, wie von bytepool gesagt, meine Netzwerkkarte hat das Zeitliche gesegnet...

Oder vielleicht auch einfach nur ein Wackelkontakt am Anschluss oder so? Es klingt dann jedenfalls stark nach einem Hardware Problem.

Vielen Dank für das Feedback. Ein defekt der Netzwerkkarte scheint sich immer wie mehr zu bestätigen. Versuche ich z.B. Ubuntu oder Debian neu zu installieren, gibt es während der Installation ein Fehler bei Versuch das Netzwerk via DHCP zu verbinden an...

Es schei*** mich nur an, den gesamten Garantie-Blablabla durchzugehen... Eigentlich könnte ich ja mit einer defekten Netzwerkkarte leben, solange das wlan funktioniert...

Du hast bislang noch nicht bestaetigt, dass ueberhaupt ein dhcp-Server im Netzwerk laeuft. Vielleicht musst Du Deiner Karte nur eine IP-Adresse geben.
Unabhaengig von der IP-Adresse sollte 'dmesg' beim Einstecken der Netzwerkkabels eine Nachricht ueber eth0 anzeigen. Wenn das nicht der Fall ist, und sich auch mit 'ifconfig eth0 up' nichts daran aendert, wuerde ich Deine Vermutung ueber die defekte Netzwerkkarte erst unterstuetzen.

Die Ironie des Schicksals: mein Laptop läuft noch unter Garantie. Möchte ich tatsächlich Garantieanspruch erheben und das Laptop einsenden, MUSS ich es in den Originalzustand zurückversetzen und Windows 7 neu aufsetzen. Dumm nur: ich habe sogar die Recovery Partition flachgelegt. Ausrede der Verkaufsstelle: Selbstverschuldung!

heute ist ein Wunder geschehen. Es läuft wieder...

Ich war so verzweifelt, dass ich jedem Hinweis nachging. Und hier war die Lösung!

1. Laptop vollkommen vom Strom trennen (Akku rausnehmen)
2. eine Minute warten
3. Neustart und fertig!

Die Kabelverbindung steht. Ich verstehe die Welt nicht mehr...
