kein Widescreen möglich unter opensuse 10.3

Ich habe einen FS L19-4W Widescreen 19" Monitor (1440x900),
eine Ati FireGL v3100 und opensuse 10.3.

Mein Problem ist, das sowohl der Monitor, als auch die Grafikkarte richtig erkannt wurden (und scheinbar auch installiert), aber dennoch scheinbar kein "echtes" widescreen möglich ist.
Zwar bietet mir das Sax2 die wxga Auflösung von 1440x900 Pixel an, aber wenn ich sie auswähle, wird das Sichtbare bild gestaucht und in 4:4 oder 5:4 angezeigt (es ist in die Höhe verzerrt, ein schwarzer Streifen ist auf der linken Seite), der Monitor meldet allerdings, das ihm 1440x900 Pixel zugesannt werden.
Im Test Modus kann ich das Bild verschieben, bis es richtig liegt (kein streifen mehr, keine sichtbare Verzerrung), wenn allerdings nach dem Speichern dieser (richtigen) Einstellung der x-server, oder das ganze System neugestartet wird, habe ich wieder das in die Höhe verzerrte Bild mit dem schwarzen Balken.
Gebe ich eine andere Auflösung an, ist zwar der Bildschirm vollständig gefüllt, allerdings das Bild in die Breite verzerrt.

Weiß da jemand Rat für mich, bzw, was mache ich falsch ?

Hast Du denn den Ati Treiber selber über Yast oder manueller Installation eingebunden?

Wenn Du hier mit Nein antwortest, solltest Du dieses tun.

Die automatische Erkennung bei der Installation reicht nicht aus.
 
gut, den aktuellen Treiber habe ich nun installiert, allerdings, wenn ich jetzt über sax2 die Auflösung auf 1440x900 stelle, gibt er mir 1024x768 aus, und bei 1400x1050 gibt er 1280x1024 aus, alle anderen Einstellungen scheinen zu stimmen (sind dann halt nur verzerrt).

Ich bin sicher ich habe irgend wo was vergessen, nur was.
 
also, so einen Fehler habe ich nirgends finden können, allerdings habe ich auch keine Modline eingefügt, sondern lediglich die autoconfig Funktion des ati-Programmes genutzt.

Ich habe das Logfile mal angefügt, vielelicht hilft das ja weiter.

Dann füge die modline mal hinzu, denn in der Log-Datei ist ja nachzulesen, dass er im Moment nur die Standardauflösungen kennt.

Benutzt du die richtige xorg.conf, denn davon steht in deiner Log-Datei nichts drin (jedenfalls hätte ich es dann zweimal übersehen :-/)?

IMHO eventuell ein Problem wegen fehlender Frequenz.

Zumindest hier fehlt deine gewünschte Auflösung.
Da per default Depth 24 genommen wird, findet sich dort auch keine 1400x900.

ja, aber: wenn ich die 1440x900 da eintrage, sagt er mit beim neustarten des x-servers "Out of Frequenzy" !

also was genau müsste ich da eintragen ?
 
Zeig mal bitte den Logauszug zu diesem fehler.
Ich kann das hier nicht nachvollziehen, da ich keine ATI und keinen Widescreen habe.
Eventuell liegt es an dem ATI Treiber.
 
hallo,

hab hier das gleiche problem, mit dem alten treiber (7.11) lief der treiber auf meinem system (mob. 9700, 1280x768 ) problemlos nach dem update auf auf den neusten ati treiber von http://www2.ati.com/suse/10.3 fällt die auflösung bei mir immer auf 1024x768 zurück, egal was ich in sax2 einstell oder in der xorg.conf ändere.
hier: http://www.phoronix.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7007&page=6 steht das wäre ein bug im neuen ati treiber.
Nun gibt es aber in der suse repo von ati den alten treiber nicht mehr. hatt vielleicht einer von euch ne idee wo ich das rpm für das vorherige kernel modul bekommen kann?

Ganz einfach => Nirgends mehr, da wirst Du schon selbst Hand anlegen müssen.
