Guten Morgen allerseits.

Wollte mich hier mal umhören was so vom EEEPC 701 4G von ASUS gehalten wird. Ich habe mir einen in Schwarz bei Amazon.de vorbestellt. Leider kommt das schöne dingen erst im Januar :(.

wirklich super geiles teil... leider kommt im feb das openmoko raus, was 400€ rum kosten wird...

mein jetziger laptop hat auch nur 900mhz und die hälfte ram... der eepc wäre schon ein geiles teil, mein /home hab ich eh auf dem server, also sind die 4gb nicht schlimm...

hat ja 3 usb ports also für zuhause, usb mau und tastatur hin und ein tft bildschirm, es soll ja 1600x1200 extern schaffen... *träum*
 
@Einstein, wenn du das teil eh statisch verwenden willst würd ich mir eher ein via itx mobo mit cpu kaufen, da bist du billiger dran, das teil hat mehr Leistung, verbraucht weniger strom usw.

Hat eigentlich einer von euch schon probiert seinen Bildschirm auf 800 x 480 gestellt und probiert im internet zu surfen, oder sonst irgendwas produktives zu machen?
 
da hab ich mich falsch ausgedrückt marcellus...

im mom hab ich auch nur ein laptop und ein server zuhause. Den Laptop habe ich als desktop ersatz weil ich auch viel unterwegs bin beruflich und privat und somit auf einen mobilen pc nicht verzichten mag.

Der Eeepc wäre leistungsmässig noch ein tick besser als mein jetziger und mobiler. Da ich ihn auch zuhause verwenden will, denke ich, is es prima möglich über usb tastatur, maus und ein monitor.

Mein jetziger Laptop würde dann unter den hammer kommen.

War gerade bei der post und im selben laden ist noch ein PC Händler der ein Vorführgerät da hat :) der laptop macht einen tollen eindruck, das os hat mich nicht sofort begeistert, aber man muss ja nicht dabei bleiben*g*

der eeepc ist und bleibt ein tolles technikspielzeug :)

gerüchte über ein größeres Display haben sich nun gefestigt und sind offizell bestätigt.

Erscheinungstermin wurde auf der CES 2. Quartal diese Jahr genannt

ich werde erst ein eee kaufen, wenn es das 8 oder sogar 8,9" Display gibt
 
Ich halte gerade meinen weißen Asus EEE in den Händen und ich muss sagen das Teil ist echt nicht schlecht.

Die Auflösung mag zwar ein wenig abschreckend sein aber solange man nicht plant das Gerät als Poweruser im Desktopbereich zu verwenden halte ich es für völlig ausreichend.

Was mich besonderst an dem Gerät begeistert ist seine Größe. Ich konnte per Wlan einfach mit ihm durchs Haus gehen und dabei mit einem Freund per Webcam über Skype reden.

Das einzigste was mich momentan stört ist die kleine Tastatur. Beim längeren Schreiben kann das ziemlich anstrengend werden.
 
Mitzekotze ich wär an einem ausführlichem Erfahrungsbericht interessiert! :)

Also...

Die Größe:
Der Asus EEE ist zuerst einmal sehr klein:

Auf dem Bild ist er im Vergleich zu meinem Toshiba Satellite A100 zu sehen.
Seine Masse sind: 22.5cm x 16.5cm x 3.3cm.

Der Bildschirm
Der Bildschirm hat 7 Zoll mit einer maximalen Auflösung von 800x480. Viele Anwendungen wie z.B. Pidgin oder Thunderbird wirken dadurch ein wenig gequetscht, doch die meisten Anwendungen laufen ganz gut im Vollbild. Um im Firefox z.B. mehr Platz zu haben schalte ich ihn immer per F11 in den Komplett-Vollbildmodus.
Das Display ist nicht verspiegelt, was bei starker Sonneneinstrahlung ein Nachteil ist.

Die Tastatur
Die Tastatur des EEE wirkt ein wenig gequetscht, einige Zeichen wie z.B. die Pipe kann man nur umständlich über die Funktionstaste erreichen, was vor allem mich als Konsolen User stört.

Am Anfang vertippt man sich häufig und landet anstatt auf den Tasten QWERT usw. auf den Zahlentasten, aber mit der Zeit bekommt man den Dreh raus. Bei längerem Schreiben musste ich aber feststellen, dass mir irgendwann das Handgelenk, auf Grund der komischen Fingerstellung, weh tat.
Die über die Funktionstaste ansteuerbaren Acpi Funktionen, wie z.B. Bildschirm heller bzw. dunkler stellen, funktionieren übrigens alle einwandfrei.

Die Webcam
Die über dem Bildschirm eingebaute Webcam liefert ein insgesamt gutes Bild und lässt sich wunderbar für Skype nutzen. Die Auflösung der Cam beträgt glaube ich 640x480 aber sicher bin ich mir dabei nicht.
Über das eingebaute Micro lässt es sich sehr gut in Skype chatten. Ein wenig störend ist dabei aber der Lüfter des EEE, der von Zeit zu Zeit anspringt, dieser ist dann als sirrendes Hintergrundgeräusch zu hören.

Ports
Als Anschluss Möglichkeiten für Peripherie Geräte besitzt der Asus EEE drei USB Ports, ein Lan Port, ein SD/MMC Cardreader, ein VGA Ausgang und ein Audio Ein- bzw. Ausgang. Zu dem gibt es noch eine Anschlussmöglichkeit für ein Kingston Schloss sowie einen RJ-11 Port welcher aber mit einem Gummipropfen versiegelt ist.

Grafikkarte
Als Grafikkarte ist eine "Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express" verbaut. Hab bisher nur Openarena getestet, welches leider nicht ganz ruckelfrei läuft, aber glxgears wurde ohne Probleme ausgeführt.

Wlan
Auf der Wlankarte werkelt der Atheros Chipsatz AR5007EG. Die dazu gehörigen Treiber sind leider closed source. Meinen Versuchen nach laufen mit diesen Treiber weder der Ad-Hock Modus noch der Monitoring Modus. Aber ich habe gelesen das dieser Chipsatz mittlerweile von den Madwifi Treibern unterstützt wird: *klick*

Akku
Die Akkulaufzeiten des EEEs sind ganz gut. Mit Deaktiviertem Wlan habe ich 3 Stunden gepackt. Mit Wlan hab ich das ganze noch nicht getestet.

Festplatte, RAM und CPU
Der EEE besitzt eine 4 GB Solid State Festplatte. Das Ganze ist nicht sonderlich viel weswegen ich mir wahrscheinlich noch eine 16 GB große SD Karte holen werde, denn die ganze Zeit eine Externe Festplatte mit durch die Gegend zu schleppen ist auch nicht das Wahre.
Der Arbeitsspeicher ist 512 MB groß und lässt sich, wie ich gehört habe, noch auf 1 GB aufstocken.
Als Prozessor ist ein Intel Celeron Mobile mit einer Taktfrequenz von 900 Mhz verbaut, dieser soll aber noch einmal auf 630 Mhz heruntergetaktet sein.

Software
Als Distribution läuft Xandros, ein Debian Abkömmling, auf dem EEE. Die Oberfläche besteht aus einer Asus Eigenproduktion namens "Asuslauncher" und dem Window Manager Icewm. Die Oberfläche des Asuslauncher wird in sechs Kategorien eingeteilt: Internet, Arbeiten, Lernen, Spielen, Einstellungen und Favoriten. Die einzelnen Bereiche enthalten Verknüpfungen auf die verschiedenen Programme. Das sind unter anderem: die OpenOffice Suite, Firefox, Amarok, Gwenview, Skype 1.4, Konqueror und viele mehr. Die Programmnamen sind dabei umgelabelt. So heißt z.B. Amarok, Musik-Manager. Hier mal ein Bild des Asuslaunchers:

Die Programmauswahl der voreingestellten Online Repositories ist mehr als dürftig, das lässt sich aber mit dem Hinzufügen der Xandros Quellen in der source.lst schnell ändern.
Es ist auch möglich, anstelle des Asuslaunchers, einen vollwertigen KDE Desktop zu installieren. Näheres dazu findet man im Asus EEE User Wiki.

Fazit
Alles in allem lässt sich sagen, dass sich meine Erwartungen an den Asus EEE bisher fast alle erfüllt haben. Als nächstes werde ich mal versuchen Arch auf ihm zum laufen zu kriegen. Im Englischen Arch Wiki gibt es dazu schon ein gutes Howto.

Ich habe gerade ind er neue Chip linux Ausgaben darüber gelsen. War sehr Posetiv überrascht.
Ich werde mir den Eee-PC auch bestellen. aber erst iM Sommer bis ich dafür wieder geld haben und vielleicht ist er bis dahin auch etwas Billiger geworden wobei man sagen muss das er ja schon so Billig ist.

Ein Großer vorteil ist ja auch das er so klein und leicht ist. deshalb gut Transportable ist.

Was sagen den die User die den kleinen schon haben? Ist er würklich brauchbar ?

Bin mal auf feedback gespannt.

Ich hab kürzlich einen eee in der hand gehabt und ich muss sagen, dass er einen recht schlechten Eindruck auf mich macht, die tasten sind genau so groß, dass du keine 2 milimeter danebentippen kannst, ohne, dass du zwei Tasten erwischt.

Was mich als eingefleischten Linux user auch sehr gestört hat ist, dass man mit strg+alt+F[1-6] nicht in die shell kommt 8o und auch so hab ich keinen terminal emulator gefunden. Das xandros scheint ja doch stark auf windows user zugeschnitten zu sein.

Und noch als letztes so ein typisches eee auf notebook bild.

Die virtuellen Konsolen sind bei Default deaktiviert. Um mit Strg + Alt + F2 auf eine Konsole wechseln zu können muss man erst folgende Zeilen in der xorg.conf in die Sektion ServerFlags hinzufügen:

Mit Strg + Alt + F3 kommt man wieder auf den Desktop.
und auch so hab ich keinen terminal emulator gefunden.
Schau mal was passiert wenn du Strg + Alt + T drückst. ;)

kannst du auch aus mehreren Konsolen Emulatoren wählen.

danke für dein kurzes Review! Ich hätte zwei Fragen zu dem Gerät:

-Wird der laut? Oder besser gesagt ist er leise genug? Kann man den in ne Vorlesung mitnehmen, ohne dass man den Beamer übertönt? Was ist dein Eindruck?

-Wird der heiß? Wie ist die Lüftung, wenn er nicht auf glattem Untergrund steht?

Ich finde ihn leider bei keinem Händler, außerdem sind diese Fragen dort schwer zu klären. Ich hoffe du findest kurz Zeit, dazu ein paar Zeilen zu schreiben. Vielen Dank!
 
ralze: Im normalen Betrieb ist der EEE überhaupt nicht zu hören, da ja auch keine mechanischen Teile wie z.B. eine Festplatte verbaut sind. Er macht sich nur bemerkbar wenn der kleine Lüfter auf der linken Seite, bei großer Hitze anspringt. Dieser Lüfter ist aber (zumindest für mein Gehör) nicht weiter störend. Während einer Vorlesung dürfte er eigentlich nicht zu hören sein.

Nach einer guten halben Stunde fängt der EEE langsam heiß zu werden. Nach dieser Zeit springt auch meistens der Lüfter an. Die Wärme wird spätestens nach einer Stunde an den Händen ziemlich unangenehm, vor allen Dingen unter dem Touchpad und unter dem Handballen wird es ziemlich heiß.
Ein Lüftungszugang hat der EEE auf der Linken Seite. Dieser wird, soweit ich das feststellen konnte, auch mit einem Lüfter versorgt. Auf der Unterseite befinden sich zudem drei Lüftungszugänge vorne und einen an der rechten Seite. Diese werden aber nicht mit einem Lüfter versorgt.
Der EEE wird auf jeden Fall schneller warm, wenn man ihn z.B. auf dem Schoss liegen hat. Aber er wird dabei an der Unterseite nicht so heiß, dass es unangenehm auffallen würde.

Der EEE ist momentan vergriffen. Alle 20000 Geräte welche zum Start ausgeliefert wurden dürften mittlerweile verkauft sein. Vielleicht findest du bei Ebay noch etwas :( . Asus hat aber angekündigt das für Nachschub gesorgt wird. Wenn du dir momentan bei Amazon einen EEE bestellst wird dir der 19. März als Liefertermin genannt. Um dieses Datum herum dürfte auch die nächste Lieferung erscheinen.

ad Lüftung: Klingt doch ganz in Ordnung. Die haben sich da anscheinend keinen Orden für verdient, aber ihren Zweck scheint sie ja zu erledigen...

ad Verfügbarkeit: Ich hab noch ein bisschen Zeit. Bei eBay würde ich das Gerät ungern kaufen. Ich will es vorher schon mal in die Hand nehmen um mal die Tastatur zu testen etc.
