Samab - Dateien öffnen sehr langsam

Hallo Zusammen,

ich bin Admin für eine kleine Firma mit 5 Mitarbeitern.
Es sind 6 Arbeitsplatzrechner (5 Windows XP , 1 Windows 7) im Einsatz.
Das Problem ist, dass es teilweise sehr lange dauert, Dateien zu öffnen, wobei dies völlig unabhängig von der Größe ist.
Auch dauert es ungewöhnlich lange (ca. 5 Sekunden) bis sich die Ordner öffnen.
Komischerweise sagen alle Mitarbeiter, dass es im Laufe des Arbeitstages schlimmer wird.
Weiterhin verzögert z.B. MS Word beim Markieren von Text ca. 1 Sekunde, bis der Text markiert ist.
Außerdem dauert das Anmelden an den Workstations teilweise mehrere Minuten, bis die Taskleiste und der Desktop geladen ist.

Momentan verwende ich als Server Debian Lenny mit Samba 3.5.
Bis Februar diesen Jahres war noch Etch mit Samba 3.0.24 im Einsatz, hier gab es diese Probleme überhaupt nicht.
Kurzfristig war die Samba Version 3.2 (offiziell in Lenny eingebaut) im Einsatz, die Probleme waren aber genau die gleichen.

Unten steht die smb.conf, sowie ein Auszug aus der /var/log/samba/log.smbd mit Loglevel 3.

Internetrecherche zu den Logmeldunge sowie zu dem beschriebenen Problem waren bei mir nicht erfolgreich.
Gewöhnlicherweise schreibe ich bei Problemen nicht in Foren, da sie sich auch so lösen lassen.
Hier ist das jedoch leider nicht so.

Hallo,

meine Frage ist mal Grundsatzlich welche Hardware du für den Server verwendest

CPU
RAM
Festplatten Typ SATA oder SAS
Welches RAID verwendest du?
usw.

Welchen Switch du verwendest ca. wie alt der in Jahren ist
ein 100 Mbit oder ein 1000 Mbit Modell

Welche Hardware und Betriebsystem verwenden deine 5 Clients?

War das schon immer so oder ist es erst vor kurzen aufgetreten.

immerhin ist Samba ja nie alleine "Schuld"

Hallo Franz,

merci für deine Antwort.

Der Server: Intel Xeon 3 Ghz, 4 GB Ram, 4 SATA Platten, 2 mal mdadm Raid 1 für OS und Datenbestand.
Die Auslastung ist wenn alles normal läuft nicht sehr hoch.
top zeigt selten eine Auslastung über 1,00 an.
Jedoch ist Samba ein paar mal abgestürtzt. Hier hat dann auch der smbd 100% der CPU Leistung in Anspruch genommen. Weder restart von Samba noch kill hat dagegen geholfen. Ein Arbeiten mit Dateien auf dem Server war dann nicht mehr möglich. Nur ein Neustart hat geholfen - Kanonen auf Spatzen?

Die Clients:

Hardware ist ca. von 2007, aber für den Office Gebrauch eigentlich ausreichen. Jeder Rechner hat ca. 2-3 Ghz CPU und um die 2 GB Ram. Verwendet wird Windows XP, SP3, Updates sind alle installiert.
Ein neuer Laptop hat schon Windows 7, Hardware: CPU 3 Ghz, Ram 4 GB.
Kann es etwas mit smbv2 zu tun haben, dass windows 7 ja beherrscht?

leider geht sich derzeit nur eine kurze Antwort aus.

Also wenn dein Server SATA Festplatten verwendet dann ist es eigentlich hier eindeutig der Flaschenhals. Das selbe gilt für RAID 1 soviel ich weis ist es auch nicht das schnellste.

SATA sollte locker reichen. Was willst du denn sonst noch nehmen?
Und RAID 1 bedeutet, die Platten sind gespiegelt, sicher RAID 0 wäre performanter, aber diese Konfig sollte nun wirlich keine Performance kosten.

Andere Frage:
Ist Samba als Paket installiert worden oder hast du es selbst kompiliert?
 
Mhhh also ein "Load Average" von 1 ist zu gross!
Ein normaler Wert sollte unter 1 liegen.

Naja, bei dem System dürften aber noch keine großen Einschränkungen spürbar sein bei einem Load von 1 .

Hast du dir mal die Plattenauslastung angeschaut ? (iotop)
Und was sagen die Logs bei Crash?
