Hallo liebes Forum,

[root@3T ~]# /sbin/service smb restart
Shutting down SMB services: [ OK ]
Shutting down NMB services:
Starting SMB services: [ OK ]
Starting NMB services:

Peter

Hallo Peter,

man nmbd schrieb:
nmbd is a server that understands and can reply to NetBIOS over IP name service requests, like those produced by SMB/CIFS clients such as Windows 95/98/ME, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP and LanManager clients. It also participates in the browsing protocols which make up the Windows "Network Neighborhood" view.

und:
Code:
~> ps ax | grep nmbd
 8713 ? Ss 0:00 /usr/sbin/nmbd -D -s /etc/samba/smb.conf
 8714 ? S 0:00 /usr/sbin/nmbd -D -s /etc/samba/smb.conf
10130 pts/2 S+ 0:00 grep nmbd

http://www.schapendonk.org/blog/2008/01/secure-internet-connection-to-home-samba-with-putty/

cheers :D
