Widescreen Auflösung unter SuSE 10.2?

Hallo,
Ich habe SuSE 10.2 und den KDE 3.5.5. Jetzt zu Weihnachten habe ich einen 19'' Widescreen Monitor bekommen (Ich hab den Monitor noch nicht, weil UPS ihn noch nicht geliefert hat). Mein Problem jetzt: Ich habe nur die Auflösungen 1024x768, 800x600 und 640x480 (Auswahl, wenn ich auf Desktop mit der rechten Muastaste klicke -->Arbeitsfläche einrichten). Wie bekomme ich da eine Widescreenauflösung rein? Die Widescreen-Monitore brauchen doch eine extra Auflösung, oder???

PS: Vielleicht nich zur Info: ich habe eine Intel Grafikkarte (Modell: 865G, Treiber: i810, 3D Unterstützung aktiviert)

Du musst einfach einen entsprechenden Monitor mit SaX2 einstellen, dann bekommst du auch Widescreen-Auflösungen. Evtl. müssen auch noch passende Modelines in die xorg.conf eingefügt werden. Diese kannst du dir mit 'videogen' generieren.
 
Also.. so einfach gings nicht. Wenn ich die Auflösung einstelle, die für den Widescreen empfohlen wird (1440x900), startet er trotzdem nach Neustart mit 1024x786! Auch andere Widescreen-Auflösungen funzen nicht.....HILFE!!!:hilfe2: :hilfe2: :hilfe2:
 
poste doch mal deine /etc/X11/xorg.conf ...dann sehen wir weiter :]
 
Vielleicht is auch KDE an sich noch auf 1024x768 eingesetellt (im Kontrollzentrum kann man das überprüfen).

@supersucker: Ich glaube nicht dass das reichen wird, da keine Modelines für diese Auflösungen in der xorg.conf sind. Also müssen mit 'videogen' erstmal passende Modelines generiert und diese mit eingetragen werden.
 
Nee, ich hab die Datei geändert, aber alles bleibt beim gleichen.....
 
Du könntest vielleicht mal probieren den vesa treiber einzusetzten allerdings müsstest du dann auch schon für die konsole die korrekte auflösung angeben.

Benutzt du jetzt bereits eine VESA Treiber für die Konsole?
 
Keine Ahnung. Ich weiß nicht mal was das ist....

Evtl. solltest du einfach mal die Manpage lesen. Ausserdem sollte videogen bei SuSE auch über den Paketmanager installierbar sein.
 
Von Quelle war das nicht bei mir zu installieren, aber als rpm-Paket habe ich das jetzt runtergeladen und anscheinend erfolgreich installiert..... aber wo is das Programm jetzt??
 
Ohne es zu wissen, würd ich mal vermuten, unter System -> Konfiguration.

Schon mal probiert, in der Konsole bzw. der Befehlszeile einfach videogen einzugeben?
