Suse Linux 10.1 bootet nicht mehr...

Hallo zusammen,

ich muss mal wieder eure Hilfe beanspruchen.
Der Grund dafür ist, dass mein System (Suse Linux 10.1) aus mir unerfindlichen Gründen nicht mehr bootet.
Bis heute Nachmittag lief alles noch einwandfrei, jedoch nach einem Neustart lief dann garnichts mehr.
Suse an sich scheint noch zu starten, jedenfalls komm ich über Strg+Alt+F2 noch in die Textkonsole.
Jedoch beim Starten vom Xserver hängt es sich dann auf. Es kommt zwar noch der Splashscreen mit der KDE Versionsnummer (3.5.1 btw), aber nach einer Weile wird selbiger durch ein schwarzes Bild ersetzt, wo ich nur noch einen Mauszeiger habe, sonst nichts.
Auch zu diesem Zeitpunkt lässt sich die Textkonsole noch ohne weiteres aufrufen.

Jetzt weiß ich nicht, was ich falsch gemacht haben soll. Als letztes habe ich eigentlich nur ein paar harmlose Dinge wie Amarok 1.3, gstreamer, xinelib und solche Dinge installiert.
Das alles geschah über Smart. Vielleicht hab ich eine kaputte Bibliothek erwischt? Ich weiß es nicht.

Im Moment bin ich via Knoppix online, leider kann ich auf die boot.log in /var/log/ nicht zugreifen, da ich für diese keine ausreichende Berechtiung habe.
Allerdings scheint die Datei "boot.msg" auch einige Infos zu enthalten.
Vielleicht könnt ihr mir ja sagen, was falsch läuft.

Der Kernel kann /lib/modules/2.6.16-13.8 nicht finden.

Die DVD dazu verwenden, um das installierte OS zu booten und dann den Kernel von der DVD neu installieren. Danach das Update des OS neu starten.

also ich hab jetzt die Suse Install DVD eingeworfen, bin auf Neuinstallation gegangen, habe dort dann über "Andere..." den Punkt "System booten" ausgewählt, aber leider führt das zu genau dem selben Effekt wie oben bereits beschrieben.

Ich habe auch bereits probiert, das System über die automatische Systemreperatur zu retten, aber das hat leider auch nichts gebracht.

Gibt es noch andere Lösungsvorschläge?
Würde es am liebsten vermeiden, dass System neu zu installieren, da ich sonst einen erheblichen Datenverlust hätte... :/

Dann ganz einfach booten und auf die Textkonsole wechseln.
Als root einloggen und dann yast2 starten.
Mit Yast2 dann den Kernel neu installieren.

hab ich probiert, aber wenn ich yast oder yast2 eintippe, dann wird mir gesagt, dass der command nicht gekannt wird...
Man ruft es doch so auf, oder?

Du musst dich als root-benutzer an dem System anmelden.
 
gebe doch bitte beim bootmenü unter optionen "init 3" ein
nun kommst du direkt in den Textmodus und logst dich bitte als "root" ein.
nun noch yast starten und den Kernel neu installieren
