Sound will nicht

Ersmal: Ich bin ein totaler noob in Sachen Linux...
Also ich hab seit heute Ubuntu (8.10).... mit muehe installiert bekommen

Jetzt hör ich nur leider nix

Soundkarte hab ich ne Creative X-Fi (hab gehört, dass es dafür keinen treiber gibt)

und onboard (Motherboard: Asrock 4core1600p35 wifi) nen Realtek highdefinition (realtek rtl 8029 is ds aglaube ich) soundchip...

Aber egal wo ich was anschliesse ich bekomm keinen Ton raus

Bitte helft mir ;D (verständlich bitte, bin ein anfänger )

ist denn der alsamixer installiert und voll aufgedreht ?
optional hat deine DE auch noch ein Mixersystem.

audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink: Could not open audio device for playback.

Das kommt wenn ich Unter Audio -> Audiowiedergabe: ALSA -> Test
mache/eingebe oder was auch immer... ansonsten hab ich auch oben in der leiste keine lautstärkeregelung

was ich auch sehr amüsant finde:

das ist die soundkarte

creative hat die treiber gerade frisch open sourced.
es gibt zwar workarounds um basic sound zu bekommen (einfach mal googeln), aber ich denke out of the box in ubuntu wird die nicht laufen.
