    S3 Savage extrem langsam - Direct Rendering streikt

    hallo!

    ich hab folgendes problem:
    auf meinem notebook (pentium m 1,2; 512mb ram; ubuntu) mit grafikchip s3
    savage (VT8605; 1400x1050) hab ich eine extrem schlechte grafikleistung.
    das allein wär nicht verwunderlich ;) , sie ist aber deutlich schlechter als sie
    sein sollte (auch deutlich schlechter als unter win).

    das äußert sich beim scrollen (inhalt erst lesbar, nachdem ich mit dem scrollen
    aufgehört habe), an bildschirmschoner ist gar nicht zu denken, diese stottern
    mit geschätzten 2 fps vor sich hin.

    ich habs mit dem standard-savage-treiber versucht, als auch mit dem
    probo-treiber. am besten gings noch mit der option shadowFB, die leistung ist
    aber weiters inakzeptabel.


    irgendwer eine idee??? wäre sehr dankbar!

    genau dort vermute ich das problem. ich verwende einen dri-fähigen treiber, die
    module dri und glx werden auch geladen, die dri-section in der xorg.conf stimmt
    auch, nur direct rendering lässt sich nicht aktivieren.

    gibts vielleicht etwas, das man beim xorg-server noch beachten muss?

    ideen??? :hilfe2:
