Gentoo: Probleme mit nvidia Grafik-Darstellung

hallo!

ich habe seit neuestem den nvidia-kernel und nvidia-glx installiert und die xorg.conf angepasst (treiber "nvidia" statt "nv") aber wenn ich mich einlogge stimmt die grafik-darstellung nicht. der mauszeiger bleibt hängen und hinterlässt spuren, wenn ich ihn bewege ist der ganze bildschirm voll. wenn ich die konsole starte ist alles weiß - die schrift ist nicht zu erkennen (weiß auf weiß) usw.

das ganze habe ich genau nach der gentoo-dokumentation gemacht d.h. auch die entsprechenden treiberversionen maskiert. später habe ich das mit verschiedenen anderen versionen (u.a. mit der neuesten )ausprobiert und es ist meist überhaupt nicht gegangen.

die xorg.conf habe ich ebenfalls dementsprechend angepasst ("dri" auskommentiert) .... eben nach der anleitung in http://www.gentoo.org/doc/de/nvidia-guide.xml

die installierten versionen sind:
media-video/nvidia-glx-1.0.6629-r6 und
media-video/nvidia-kernel-1.0.6629-r4

es handelt sich hier um folgende grafikkarte (laut lspci):
0000:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV5M64 [RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro] (rev 15)

problem: ich habe keine ahnung woran es liegen könnte!?

Probiere mal die 7174 vom nVidia-Treiber. Die musst du allerdings erstmal in der package.keywords zulassen (höchstes -r*)...
Bei mir haben 6111 und 6626 auch nicht gefunzt...
