Wie deutlich muss ich eigentlich noch drauf hinweisen?

Mit dem Umzug auf die 8.10 wird bei Dir die xorg.conf fast vollständig ignoriert. Wieso fummelst Du an der herum, solange das so ist? Schalte von HAL auf xorg, dann funktioniert das vermutlich wieder wie gewohnt.
 
aber hal ubernimmt nicht die config der graka, nur die der(einiger) input devices ... also wäre mir zumindest neu.

nichdestotrotz kann ich kalle nur zustimmen räume erstmal die conf auf. ich habe weiter oben ne conf gepostet, das wäre ein guter startpunkt ;)

@doc: hab das teil mal eingefügt, beim nächsten start hatte ich aber ein "ubuntu is now running in low graphics mode" an der backe.... - also wieder gelöscht...
 
Problem mit GLX openGL acceleration

Hallo mal wieder
Ich habe mich in letzter Zeit mit der Fehlenden hardware-unterstützung zufrieden gegeben, möchte eure Hilfe jetzt aber noch einmal beanspruchen:

Mir ist bei einem test der "GLX openGL acceleration" ein extrem schlechtes Ergebnis der fps aufgefallen:

6198 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1239.530 FPS
6220 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1243.921 FPS

      after 41 requests (41 known processed) with 0 events remaining.
laut dieser Quelle wären Ergebnisse um 7000 fps zu erwarten.

Dies führt mich zu der Erkenntnis, dass mein System anscheinend ein Problem mit der GLX openGL acceleration hat.
Kann mir jemand sagen, woher ein solcher Funktionsfehler kommen kann bzw wie ich ihn beheben könnte?

Wie wäre es mit ner aktuelen xorg.conf, Xorg.0.log, Ausgabe von glxinfo und lspci?
glxgears liefert keine vergleichbaren Ergebnisse ...

Also ich hatte mit meiner alten Karte das selbe Problem. Ein aktueller Treiber hat es gelöst. Im Forum auf www.nwnews.net wurde das Thema damals auch heftig besprochen, da einige AGP Karten anscheinend nicht richtig liefen. Versuche mal einen neueren Treiber vieleicht hilft es... Mehr kann ich dir leider im Moment nicht raten da ich mich vor einiger Zeit von Nvidia verabschiedet habe, jetzt ägere ich mich mit Intel herum :)

Was Du hast ... sieht doch gut aus. Das Xinerama und Twinview-Zeugs würde ich noch raussschmeißen, aber ansonsten ...
 
Ich kann mir schwer vorstellen dass eine noch aktuellere version des Treibers den Ausschlag geben soll...
Der Treiber wird vom "Hardware-Manager" und von envy empfohlen...
Außerdem hat die Grafikkarte damals bis zur Ubuntu-Version Edgy (oder Feisty?) noch voll funktioniert...

Das ist das Ergebnis einer GeForce 6800 bei 2 Monitoren und einer Gesamtauflösung von 2880x900. Bei ihm stimmt definitiv etwas nicht ;)
