ATI treiber für SUSE 10.2

Halle alle zusammen ich hätte mal wieder ein problem und eine frage!

aaalsooo: ich wollte einen ati treiber für mein frisches BS installieren (graka ati x1800)

da suse 10.2 xorg 7.2 nützt und es keinen treiber auf der ati homepage gibt der 7.2 unterstützt bin ich jetzt im arsch!

kann ich irrgendwas machen, damit ich wenigstens gescheid scrollen kann? oder muss ich warten bis die von ati einen treiber für 7.2 erstellen?

Geb dich mit dem "ati" oder "radeon" Treiber zufrieden, den XOrg in der Version 7.2 mitliefert, bis ATI einen nachliefert.

meinst du vielleicht den free radeon? der unterstützt meine x1800 leider nicht!

so zu arbeiten wie jetzt wird zu einer qual! fenster verschiben scrollen... ist einfach nur eine tortour!

Sorry, das habe ich nicht bedacht. Wie sieht es denn mit dem "ati" Treiber von XOrg aus? Mal den statt "radeon" nehmen.

Was ist denn an Xorg 7.2 so anders als an 7.1, dass der fglrx nicht funktioniert?

das mit dem downgrade ist ne gute idee! die installation etc. lief wie am schnürchen

nun stehe ich vor einem anderen problem! ich bin zu dumm um die xorg.conf ordentlich zu editieren! ich habs so versucht:

aber leider klappt es nicht er kann X net starten! kannste mir vielleich noch sagen wo der fehler ist!

(von kdm auf gdm habe ich schon umgestellt)

die Fehlermeldung lautet:

Fatal screen error: no screens found

Lass doch einfach nochmal sax2 durchlaufen und ändern dann "driver" auf "fglrx" ....

hmm... immer noch die selbe fehlermeldung? ich poste mal meine xorg.conf (also wie ich sie bis jetzt verändert habe!) vielleicht sieht dann jemand den fehler!

und noch ne frage warum muss ich eig. gdm statt kdm benutzen? (wies auf der suse homepage steht)

Hi,

also ich hab auch gar keine Ahnung von linux und hab da nochmal ne frage zur Treiber Installation. Also hab die neusten Treiber 8.33 oder so runtergeladen und versucht zu installieren, funkionierte auch alles bis zu dem Punkt als ich das neu erstellte Paket installieren sollte. Der Befehl rpm -Uhv fgl*.rpm funzte auch noch. Der Treiber wurde installiert so und jetzt kommt mein Problem ich weiß einfach nicht in welchem Verzeichniss ich den Befehl idconfig und aticonfig --inpu.... ausführen soll. Muss ich dass in einen bestimmten Verzeichniss tun? weil wenn ich den befehl einfach so eingebe dann passiert gar nichts.

Könnt ihr mir helfen? braucht ihr sonst noch Angaben?
