ATI-Treiber deinstallieren, neuen installieren

Hallo!

Da ich momentan versuche ein CAE-Programm zum fliegen zu bekommen, habe ich überlegt den ATI-Treiber upzudaten. Könntet Ihr mir sagen, wie ich den alten Treiber deinstalliere und den neuen installiere? Ich würde den 8.7er nehmen direkt von ATI.

Kann ich über die Konsole überprüfen welcher Treiber nun installiert ist? Im Yast wird nämlich 8.49 angezeigt!

rpm -qa |grep Suchbegriff
Und YaST würde ich in diesem Fall glauben.
 
Hm, aber ich habe den alten Treiber mit

rpm -e $(rpm -qa '*fglrx*')

deinstalliert.
Dann habe ich alles befolgt wie beschrieben.

Aber ich habe von der ATI-Seite den 8.7 runtergeladen!

Mal nachgesehen, was der Aufruf des Installerscripts ausspuckt?

Du hast den catalyst 8.7 das hat iirc nichts mit der fglrx version ansich zu tun.
 
Hm, dass klingt logisch. Allerdings hat das Update nicht zu dem gewünschten Erfolg geführt. Kennt sich hier jemand gut mit CAE-Software aus?
 
Ich nehm an, dass das was du haben wirst viel eher ein treiber bug ist, als das speziell einer software anzulasten.

Um dein Problem zu lösen würd ich zuerst eine ordendliche fehlerbeschreibung posten vor einem "kennt sich hier jemand gut mit CAE-Software aus".

Und dann noch den inhalt deiner /var/log/Xorg.0.log und deiner /etc/X11/xorg.conf nopasten, sonst wird sich da vorerst gar nichts tun.
 
Zu der Fehlerbeschreibung: Ich starte das Programm und alles sieht gut aus, aber leider färbt der Arbeitsbereich sich schwarz, bewege ich dann die Maus in den Bereich, färbt er sich wieder in die gewohnte normale blaue Farbe. Ich würde es als Refresh-Problem beschreiben.

Das hört sich für mich nach einem composite problem an. Schalt mal composite ab, indem du in die /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Hm, ich hab die xorg.conf so geändert wie Du gesagt hast. Hab die Zeilen am Ende eingetragen. Allerdings wollte danach SuSE nicht mehr starten. Habs dann mit sax2 -a wieder zurückschreiben lassen.

Jetzt läuft alles sehr langsam ab. Passt die xorg.conf noch?

Der Hund liegt anscheinend im Detail begraben. Der Grund wieso ich wollte, dass du Composite abschaltest ist, dass es damit doch noch probleme gibt. Und laut deiner Xorg.0.log
(II) Initializing built-in extension COMPOSITE
ist composite auch eingeschaltet.

Wenn ich mir die zwei xorg.confs von dem post hier direkt drüber anschaue und ich sehe, dass bei der 1. der radeonhd treiber verwendet wird und bei der 2. fglrx versteh ich natürlich das das nicht hinhaut.

Die Frage ist nur, wie kann es dazu kommen, dass das Abschalten von composite dazu führen kann, dass das mysthische xorg.conf kaputtmachdingens auf radeonhd umschwänkt?

Falls du eine R5xx karte hast, sprich eine von denen wärs direkt eine idee den radeonhd mal anzutesten, wenn der fglrx skurile fehler aufbaut.

Die sache ist die, es gibt in deiner Xorg.0.log nichts, was irgendwie auf ein Treiberproblem hindeutet. Composite ist wie gesagt ein üblicher verdächtiger, aber sonst fällt mir nicht viel mehr ein.

Falls du noch beim fglrx nachbohren willst bevor du den radeonhd draufspielst dann post die Xorg.0.log mit deiner originalen xorg.conf und abgeschalteter composite extension.
 
Also ich habe eine Mobility Radeon X1600 in meinem Laptop. Wäre dann also eine M56. Meinst Du also ich sollte eher mal den radeon testen?

Ich habe es eben nochmal versucht meine xorg.conf zu ändern. Nun hat es scheinbar geklappt! Ich habe anständige Frameraten und das CAE-Programm scheint auch keine Mucken mehr zu machen! Ich werde es jetzt mal länger testen!

Composite ist eine neue erweiterung, die brauchst du eigentlich nur für window compositing, sprich compiz/beryl oder die effekte, die jetzt in metacity/kwin integriert werden(/sind).

Es gibt immer noch Probleme mit composite, vor allem mit dem fglrx, weil es die Leute von ati anscheinend nicht interessiert, oder sie unfähig sind. Aber wenigstens rücken sie jetzt langsam mit den hardware spezifikationen raus, dass die entwickler von xorg einen ordendlichen treiber schreiben können, das wär dann radeonhd. Nur ist dazu zu sagen, dass der treiber noch unausgereift ist.

Zb funktionieren die ganzen stromspar funktionen der graka mit dem radeonhd nicht, deswegen wärs bei einem notebook eher ein schuß ins knie fürs erste.

Dieses CAE-Programm setzt sich aus mehreren Modulen zusammen. Das Modul zum Vernetzen von Geometrien hast Du ja zum laufen bekommen. Nun gibt es noch ein Modul was sich HyperView nennt. Mit diesem Modul kann man sich Berechnungsergebnisse betrachten und auswerten. Allerdings wird dieses Modul nicht gestartet. Es kommt zum Abbruch mit folgendem Fehler:
